Cheyenne Mangum
Software Engineer / REALTORĀ®, Associate Broker

Real estate has never been just a job to me. In real estate since 2012 when I was just 20 years old, I've lived it and loved it every day! As a full-time agent with a passion for the industry, I've poured my heart into bringing buyers and sellers together in the most fun, professional, enthusiastic, and skillful way possible! In addition to my experience in residential real estate, I have a strong background in finance, marketing, technology, building, and home staging as well. I graduated from UAB in 2013 with a B.S. in Finance with a Real Estate Concentration, and I've also completed coursework and certifications required for mortgage lending, software development, and Scrum. Continuous learning is paramount! I'm always taking courses, following industry trends, and reading blogs, articles, and books related to real estate, technology, and other industries that interest me.

At my current real estate company of 4 year, Keller Williams Realty, I've been exposed to a new world of technology as KW has committed $1B (yes, billion!) to revamping or creating our websites, CRM software, marketing programs, consumer mobile app, and all things tech. Not only have I been embracing the changes and using it to grow my sphere of influence and my business, I've been helping to teach this new tech in both our Gardendale and Cullman offices which have over 200 agents combined! With this new technology comes a few bugs along the way, especially as agents have participated in Labs (essentially beta mode) in order to give feedback to the developers who are building this whole new tech environment for us in-house to be tailored to our specific needs.

This leads me to the reason I applied for the Innovate Birmingham software development bootcamp in late 2019. I wanted to know WHY our new systems weren't fully functional and find ways to work around them until the bugs were fixed, but mostly it truly inspired me to dive deeper into the unknown and immerse myself in software development in hopes of one day joining the KW team on the other side of the table! I wanted to give back to the company that'd given so much to me over the years, but I wasn't sure that a move out of state was right for me with my family all here in Alabama.

Fortunately, only a few short weeks into the bootcamp, I realized that there are a multitude of industry partners that IB connects us with to gain employment after graduation in April 2020. At that time, I will be seeking an intriguing new career in software engineering in Alabama, though I would be open to relocating if I feel a company or team is a solid match for the culture and atmosphere that I can bring value to. I am interested in supporting a tech company as a software engineer with my ever-evolving knowledge of programming skills, team and people skills, and driving desire to be better today than who I was yesterday.

Please refer to the Experience and Skills tabs at the top of this page for a detailed list of my work, education, projects, and pursuits.

Outside of class and the office, I'm an avid traveler who loves to immerse myself in other cultures and atmospheres. In addition, I enjoy being outside, kayaking, cooking, woodworking, arcades, visiting with my family, and engaging with new people over a multitude of different topics.
